Visalia & Tulare County HF Contesting & Youth Licensing

Amateur radio enthusiasm thrives in Visalia, Tulare, and Porterville through active contesting, antenna experimentation, and community outreach. The Tulare County Amateur Radio Club (WA6BAI) and Porterville Amateur Repeater Association (KE6WDX) host regular license examination sessions, mentoring new ham operators across the South Valley. Local hams participate in major ARRL HF contests, operating CW, SSB, and FT8 modes to log contacts across the globe from rural San Joaquin Valley orchards. Additionally, club members collaborate with local schools and youth groups to demonstrate satellite communications, STEM radio technology, and Foxhunting (radio direction finding). These educational initiatives ensure a strong, knowledgeable next generation of amateur radio operators dedicated to advancing radio science and community service throughout Tulare County.
